On the Rio – Santos Highway, just before São Gonçalo beach, there is an exit to Praia Do Iriri (approximately 28 km from Paraty towards Rio). A small trail of about 5 minutes walk leads to the beach; there are no residents and there is no infrastructure, so it is advisable to bring water and food.
The indigenous Pataxós who live on the other side of the road take care of this beach and also offer a shuttle to the islands directly in front of it. It is a beautiful beach with the mouth of a river in one of its ends; in the other end there is a grotto and a historic construction.
