About Paraty
Paraty is a charming historical city located on the southern coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, between the sea and the mountains. Founded in the colonial period, it preserves one of the best preserved architectural ensembles in Brazil, with stone streets, colorful mansions and ancient churches that tell part of the country's history. Historic District
The historic center is Paraty's colonial backdrop, which includes mansions with whitewashed walls and baroque churches on pedestrian-only streets with uneven cobblestone pavements. Paraty is a city full of life at night all year round, the varied cuisine including exquisite bistros and traditional restaurants with outdoor tables. Charming bars offering good live music (bossa nova, MPB, jazz, blues, etc.), shops selling local cachaças, clothes and handicrafts and street artists such as "living statues", jugglers and painters .
